The recent successful landing of the Vikram rover as part of India’s Chandrayaan-3 moon mission garnered global attention and celebration. However, an intriguing yet baseless claim has emerged on social media, suggesting that the Chandrayaan-3 mission’s Pragyan rover discovered evidence of alien life on the lunar surface.
A video has been circulating, asserting that the Pragyan rover, deployed by the Chandrayaan-3 Vikram lander, captured footage of extraterrestrial entities on the Moon and transmitted this footage to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Allegedly, ISRO’s chief, S Somnath, held an urgent review meeting to discuss these findings.
According to the viral video, ISRO officially announced the discovery of 700 aliens on the Moon. However, it is essential to clarify that these claims are entirely unfounded, as neither ISRO’s official communications nor any credible scientific sources have made such statements.
ISRO diligently shares updates on the Pragyan rover’s activities and experiments on the lunar surface, and there has been no mention of detecting alien life. Moreover, a closer examination of the video reveals that it comprises a mixture of past ISRO and Chandrayaan mission footage, along with generic stock images and videos.
To date, no nation or reputable scientific institution has substantiated the existence of alien life on the Moon or any other celestial body within our solar system. The search for extraterrestrial life remains a subject of rigorous scientific exploration and investigation.”
